Technical Leadership & Architecture
• Own application architecture and system design decisions across APL's RVA platform, balancing scalability,
reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Set and enforce engineering standards, coding practices, and architectural patterns across .NET, front-end, and
video-processing systems.
• Stay hands-on: participate in design reviews, code reviews, and complex technical problem-solving alongside the
team.
• Evaluate and modernize the technology stack, including cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and video delivery
systems.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted tools and practices across the SDLC — code generation, testing, code review, and
documentation — to improve engineering velocity and quality.
Team Building & People Leadership
• Build and lead the full in-country Software Engineering team, currently and going forward, reporting directly to the
CTO.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor a cohort of Junior Engineers, creating a structured growth path from junior to
senior levels.
• Manage performance, career development, and day-to-day leadership for engineers, tech leads, and QA within the
team.
• Foster a culture of ownership, technical rigor, and continuous learning.
Delivery & Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with the CTO and U.S.-based product/business stakeholders to translate roadmap priorities into technical
execution plans.
• Own sprint planning, delivery timelines, and quality across the India engineering organization using Agile/Scrum
practices.
• Ensure production systems (web applications, video pipelines, and supporting infrastructure) are reliable,
monitored, and well-documented.
• Represent India engineering in leadership discussions, providing visibility into risks, tradeoffs, and delivery status.
Experience Requirements:
Required Skills & Experience
• 10–12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 5+ years in a technical leadership or
engineering management role.
• Deep expertise in application architecture and system design for production, customer-facing software.
• Strong hands-on background in C#/.NET, Python and modern web application development (e.g., ASP.NET,
React/TypeScript, or comparable stacks).
• Proven experience building, scaling, and managing engineering teams, including hiring and developing junior
talent.
• Comfort and enthusiasm for using AI tools throughout the software delivery lifecycle (e.g., AI-assisted coding,
code review, testing, or documentation tools).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production support practices.
• Strong track record of Agile/Scrum delivery and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to
non-technical and U.S.-based stakeholders.
Desired Skills
• Experience with video applications: encoding/decoding, streaming, or video delivery pipelines (e.g., ffmpeg, video
browsers, media processing tools).
• Familiarity with AWS or other major cloud platforms.
• Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), Octopus Deploy, TeamCity, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
• Background in industrial safety, healthcare, manufacturing, or another regulated/compliance-driven industry.
• Experience working in a distributed organization with U.S.-based leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10–12+ years of relevant software engineering experience, with 5+ years leading engineering teams.
• Demonstrated ability to operate as both a strategic leader and a hands-on technical contributor.
