Primary Responsibilities :

. Ocean Operations Management

  • Lead end-to-end Ocean Import & Export operations for FCL and LCL shipments.
  • Manage shipment bookings, documentation, customs coordination, and cargo delivery.
  • Monitor vessel schedules, shipment milestones, and cargo movement.
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, NVOCCs, overseas agents, CFS, ICDs, transporters, and Customs House Agents (CHA).
  • Handle shipment exceptions and operational escalations.
  • Manage project cargo, hazardous cargo, and reefer shipments where applicable.

2. Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with customers, overseas offices, carriers, and logistics partners.
  • Provide proactive shipment updates and operational communication.
  • Participate in customer review meetings.
  • Resolve customer queries and operational escalations.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

3. Documentation & Compliance

  • Oversee preparation and verification of:
    • Bills of Lading
    • Shipping Bills
    • Delivery Orders
    • Commercial Invoices
    • Export & Import Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Customs Regulations
    • DGFT Guidelines
    • International Trade Regulations
    • Company SOPs
  • Maintain complete operational documentation for audits.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy to minimize shipment delays.

4. Team Leadership & Resource Management

  • Lead and mentor the Ocean Operations team.
  • Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
  • Conduct performance reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Identify training requirements.
  • Promote operational excellence and accountability.

5. Carrier & Vendor Management

  • Develop relationships with:
    • Shipping Lines
    • NVOCCs
    • Transporters
    • Warehouses
    • Logistics Partners
  • Monitor vendor performance and service levels.
  • Support procurement and commercial teams during carrier negotiations.
  • Optimize transport and warehouse utilization.

6. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Implement standardized workflows and SOPs.
  • Improve shipment turnaround time and visibility.
  • Support ERP/TMS automation initiatives.
  • Enhance operational efficiency.

7. Cost Control & Financial Management

  • Monitor operational costs and shipment profitability.
  • Minimize detention, demurrage, storage, and avoidable expenses.
  • Coordinate with Finance for billing, invoicing, and revenue realization.
  • Support budgeting and cost optimization initiatives.

8. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

  • Prepare Daily, Weekly, and Monthly MIS reports.
  • Monitor KPIs including:
    • Shipment Turnaround Time
    • Documentation Accuracy
    • SLA Compliance
    • Customer Satisfaction
  • Present operational reports and improvement plans to senior management.
  • Ensure departmental objectives and business targets are achieved.
Experience Requirements:

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Logistics
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Commerce
    • Business Administration
    • Related Discipline

Preferred

  • MBA / PGDM in Logistics & Supply Chain Management

Experience Required

  • 12–15 years of experience in:
    • Ocean Freight Operations
    • Freight Forwarding
    • Logistics
  • 4–6 years of managerial/team handling experience.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Ocean Import & Export
    • FCL & LCL Operations
    • Customer-facing logistics operations
