Job Description: Consultant Radiation Oncologist

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Radiation Oncologist to lead our oncology treatment services. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing advanced radiotherapy treatments, integrating cutting-edge technology with compassionate patient care, and maintaining the rigorous standards required by international accreditation.

 

Required Qualifications & Education

Primary Degree: MB.CH.B (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) from a recognized University.

Specialization: * Master of Medicine (M.Med) in Radiation Oncology or Radiotherapy OR

M.Med in Radiology supplemented by a formal Fellowship in Radiotherapy (or an equivalent recognized specialization path) from a recognized University or Institution.

Licensure: Valid specialist registration and license to practice as a Consultant.

Experience Requirements

Total Experience: A minimum of 9 years of post-qualification professional experience in Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy.

Hospital Accreditation: At least 1–2 years of recent experience working within a JCI-accredited hospital is mandatory.

Required Skills & Competencies

Technological Expertise: Deep understanding of modern linear accelerators, treatment planning systems, and radiation physics.

Analytical Precision: Strong ability to interpret diagnostic imaging and pathology reports to define accurate target volumes.

Interpersonal Skills: Empathy and clarity in communication, essential for managing high-stress patient interactions.

Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of international radiation safety standards and clinical governance.

Experience Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Consultation: Provide expert clinical evaluation and personalized treatment planning for patients with diverse oncological conditions.

Radiotherapy Planning: Lead the design and execution of sophisticated radiation therapy plans, including IMRT, VMAT, IGRT, and Brachytherapy.

Departmental Leadership: Oversee the technical and clinical staff within the radiation oncology unit to ensure seamless operational flow.

Quality Assurance: Uphold and enhance clinical protocols in alignment with JCI (Joint Commission International) standards to ensure maximum patient safety and treatment efficacy.

Multidisciplinary Care: Actively participate in Tumor Boards and collaborate with surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, and radiologists for comprehensive patient management.

Patient Advocacy: Educate patients and their families on treatment options, potential side effects, and expected outcomes, providing support throughout the therapeutic journey.
