Job Purpose:
To lead and manage production activities related to fabrication, machining, and assembly of solids handling and automation equipment. The role ensures production targets, quality standards, safety compliance, and delivery timelines are achieved through effective planning, coordination, and execution.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical or Production Engineering.
Experience: 5–8 years of relevant experience in a fabrication or engineering manufacturing environment. Experience in solids handling or automation projects will be preferred.
Working Conditions:
Full-time, shop-floor-based position.
Moderate physical presence required in fabrication and assembly areas.
May require extended working hours during urgent project deliveries or FAT schedules.
Close coordination with Design, QA/QC, Stores, Purchase, and Project Execution teams.
Experience Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Execution
Plan and execute daily and weekly production schedules based on project timelines and job priorities.
Allocate manpower, machinery, and resources across fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly operations.
Coordinate with Design and Purchase departments to ensure availability of drawings, BOMs, and raw materials.
Monitor in-process activities to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
2. Equipment & System Fabrication
Supervise manufacturing of equipment such as screw conveyors, bin activators, mixers, hoppers, valves, and piping skids.
Ensure adherence to fabrication drawings, welding procedures, dimensional tolerances, and finish requirements.
Coordinate with QA/QC for stage-wise inspections and final quality clearance.
Provide hands-on technical guidance for complex assemblies and automation system integration.
3. Resource & Team Management
Supervise shop-floor personnel including welders, fitters, fabricators, riggers, and helpers.
Maintain discipline, safety standards, and 5S practices within the production area.
Evaluate team performance and support training and skill development initiatives.
Coordinate with contractors and outsourced fabrication vendors when required.
4. Process Improvement & Efficiency
Identify production bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
Optimize machine utilization, reduce rework and rejection rates, and improve cycle times.
Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor production costs, material usage, and wastage control.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain production logs, job cards, shift reports, and daily progress updates.
Track material consumption and ensure proper return of unused materials to Stores.
Coordinate with Planning and Project teams for project-wise progress tracking.
Assist in preparing production documentation for client inspections and FAT readiness.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, and mechanical assembly processes.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and welding symbols.
Hands-on experience with mechanical and automation equipment assembly.
Strong leadership and shop-floor coordination skills.
Familiarity with production planning tools and ERP systems.
