Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer – Inward Material & Job Work

Job Purpose:
To ensure the quality compliance of all incoming raw materials, bought-out components, and job work items received from suppliers and vendors (machining, laser cutting, bending, fabrication, etc.). The role is responsible for inspection, documentation, traceability, and non-conformance management to maintain high-quality standards for fabricated and pre-processed parts used in solids handling and automation systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education: Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
Experience: 4–7 years of relevant experience in quality inspection, with hands-on exposure to inward material and job work inspection.
Working Conditions:
On-site inspection in stores, shop floor, and loading/unloading areas.
Frequent coordination with vendors, Purchase, Stores, and Fabrication teams.
Regular use of inspection tools and handling of physical components.
May require occasional vendor visits for job work verification or quality audits.
Experience Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inward Quality Inspection
Conduct detailed inspection of incoming raw materials such as MS/SS sheets, pipes, bars, and plates.
Inspect bought-out components (gearboxes, motors, actuators, bearings, etc.) against approved drawings and specifications.
Verify Material Test Certificates (MTCs), supplier quality documents, and dimensional inspection reports.
2. Job Work Quality Control
Inspect machined, laser-cut, bent, and fabricated parts received from job work vendors.
Verify profiles, tolerances, edge finishes, and critical dimensions as per approved drawings and QC plans.
Validate welding groove preparation, hole alignment, bending angles, and fitment accuracy.
3. Documentation & Traceability
Maintain inspection records, inward quality checklists, and NCR logs.
Ensure proper tagging and traceability coding of all materials and components.
Update inspection status to Stores and Production for GRN approval or rejection.
4. Vendor Quality Monitoring
Communicate quality rejections, deviations, and corrective actions to vendors.
Support supplier audits and vendor performance evaluations based on quality metrics.
Ensure job work vendors adhere to quality standards and drawing tolerances.
5. Non-Conformance Management
Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) for defective or non-compliant materials.
Coordinate with Purchase and vendors for replacements, rework, or corrective actions.
Perform rejection analysis, identify root causes, and support CAPA implementation.
6. Coordination & Support
Collaborate closely with Purchase, Stores, Design, and Production teams for material clearance.
Provide technical support during in-house fabrication when required.
Assist in updating inspection procedures and inward quality control standards.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of mechanical fabrication, machining, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and angle protractors.
Familiarity with machining, laser cutting, and bending tolerances.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and Material Test Certificates.
Strong documentation, reporting, and vendor communication skills.
