Position Overview
A leading and long-established textile manufacturing organization in East Africa is entering an exciting phase of growth and transformation. With over four decades of heritage and a fully integrated manufacturing setup, the organization serves a diverse customer base across East and Southern Africa with high-quality finished textile products.
To support its next phase of scale and operational excellence, the organization is seeking a forward-looking, impact-driven Head of Production to lead its manufacturing function.
The Head of Production will be responsible for overseeing and aligning all production activities across Spinning, Weaving, Dyeing, Knitting, and Finishing. This role is both strategic and operational—focused on delivering output, cost efficiency, and quality, while building leadership capability, strengthening cross-functional collaboration, and driving continuous improvement. The role reports directly to the CEO and is a key member of the senior leadership team.

Experience Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic and operational leadership across all production units to meet output, cost, and quality targets
Strengthen production planning and inter-department coordination to ensure timely and reliable customer fulfillment
Build leadership depth by developing and mentoring department heads and establishing strong second-line leadership
Introduce and institutionalize structured performance management systems across production departments
Lead capital investment projects from feasibility through implementation, aligned with strategic growth objectives
Promote lean manufacturing, operational discipline, and continuous improvement across all processes
Collaborate closely with Sales, Business Development, Operations, and Finance to achieve integrated business goals
Ensure a safe, compliant, and well-maintained working environment across manufacturing facilities
Leverage data, systems, and structured reviews to drive transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making

Improved manufacturing cost efficiency and optimized resource utilization
Enhanced coordination, visibility, and output reliability across production departments
Empowered department heads with clear accountability and identified successors
Initiation of one or more capital projects with defined ROI and strategic alignment
A culture of openness, discipline, and continuous learning embedded across the production function
Candidate Profile
10+ years of experience in senior production or manufacturing leadership roles, preferably within the textile industry
Strong experience in vertically integrated manufacturing environments covering multiple production processes
Proven ability to build teams, establish systems, and lead large-scale operational transformation
Strategic mindset with strong execution capability and solid understanding of business and financial drivers
Comfortable working with data, systems, and structured performance management frameworks
Collaborative leadership style with high standards and adaptability across cultures and teams
Fluency in English required; experience working in multicultural environments is preferred
